Government: solutions on Imu and VAT by 31 August. Napolitano: "Avoiding the crisis"

Structural solutions to overcome the Imu on the first house, identification of covers to avoid the VAT increase, acceleration to payment of public administration debts towards companies, new provisions on social shock absorbers e exodus. All within the August 31th. This is the commitment made today by the Letta government at the end of the Palazzo Chigi summit, the so-called control room with the majority.

A meeting in which, according to the Executive, the question of the motion by was not even addressed distrust of Angelino Alfano, Minister of the Interior, and of his possible resignation following the Shalabayeva case. Quite the opposite: during the appointment "strong political support emerged, unity of purpose and broad agreement on the approach, timing, merit of the measures to be implemented in the field of economic policy in the coming months, in particular for what complies with the Stability Law”, reads the final note. On the other hand, the Premier had already said yesterday that he "sees no clouds on the horizon" for the government.

In addition to Letta and Alfano, the Minister of Economy Fabrizio Saccomanni, the Minister for Relations with Parliament Dario Franceschini, the head of Regional Affairs Graziano Delrio and the group leaders of the parties supporting the majority also attended today's meeting.

“The climate was serene and positive. Don't make me say anything else”, commented the president of the Mixed Group in the Chamber, Pino Pisicchio. As for the Shalabayeva case, "we haven't really touched on the subject".

However, a strong call came from Head of State: "Do not venture to create gaps, to pull thorns, for the rejection of what the post-electoral political reality has made it obligatory and for an unjustifiable underestimation of the consequences to which the country would be exposed", said Giorgio Napolitano at the end of the fan ceremony at the Quirinale.

Italy's situation on the international financial markets "could even sharply worsen in the face of a new destabilization of the Italian political situation", added the President, underlining with regard to the Alfano case that it is "hazardous for government ministers to indicate objective responsibilities or consubstantial to the office".
