Between Renzi and the government allies – Pd and Cinque Stelle in the lead – it is a complete break. Two days of direct confrontation between the forces of the outgoing majority under the exploration of the Speaker of the Chamber, Roberto Fico were not enough to unblock the government crisis, on the contrary they exacerbated it. There are many differences on the program but also on the composition of the team, starting with the choice of the premier because Pd, Cinque Stelle and Leu unite around Giuseppe Conte but Matteo Renzi's Iv thinks that other solutions are more convincing and effective.

On these points – argued the leader of Italia Viva – Pd, Cinque Stelle and Leu who obviously replied by blaming Renzi for an “unjustifiable break”.
Moreover, it was clear from the beginning of the crisis that either we were moving towards substantial discontinuity (which does not necessarily mean changing the premiership) or the settlement of differences is impossible.
This is the bankruptcy balance that the explorer Fico brought to the Quirinale in the evening, placing in the hands of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, the entire solution to the crisis which is now at the point: either a last-minute mend of the former majority or a institutional government or early elections.
