Government, Padoan illustrates reforms to US funds

Italian Treasury Minister Pier Carlo Padoan yesterday met some major American investors to talk about the country's reforms and economic prospects. The number one in via XX Settembre took part in individual appointments with the Carlyle Group and Tudor Investment. 

Padoan briefed investors on the government's plans for growth and underlined the importance of the reforms that have been launched and those to come. Among the provisions discussed, taxation through the enabling law, public administration, the Job Act and civil justice. 

The minister also spoke of the government's privatization plan which, in addition to strengthening and making the companies concerned more competitive, will help reduce public debt. Padoan also saw the US Treasury Secretary, Jack Lew, to illustrate the government's reform programs and Italy's priorities, growth and employment, during the next semester of Italy's presidency of the EU. 

Until tomorrow, the minister will then be in New York for a round table at the Council on Foreign Relations and for further meetings with the financial community.
