Government, today Napolitano gives the mandate: Amato in pole position but Enrico Letta remains in the running

The task of forming the Government is expected during the day: Napolitano focuses on Giuliano Amato but does not exclude Enrico Letta if difficulties arise in the composition of the team - The Government will be supported by Pd, Pdl and Civic choice - M5S, Sel and Lega in opposition – Perhaps Saccomanni al Tesoro – The programmatic basis constituted by the work of the Sages.

Government, today Napolitano gives the mandate: Amato in pole position but Enrico Letta remains in the running

After the day of quick consultations at the Quirinale between the re-elected president Giorgio Napolitano and the party delegations, the announcement of the new government is expected today: the favorite for the presidency of the Council, at the moment, seems to be Giuliano Amato who, according to the head of state, has two absolutely necessary requirements at the moment: "great experience and effectiveness", despite "some problems of consensus in public opinion". Behind Dr. Sottile the name of Enrico Letta also stands out.

Matteo Renzi's shares, which seemed high in the morning, gradually decreased during the day. Above all, a certain lack of experience and Silvio Berlusconi's no weigh on the name of the mayor of Florence, as well as the lack of cohesion of the Democratic Party, which has not expressed any clear endorsement of his candidacy.

We are therefore moving towards a government of broad understandings, supported not only by the Democratic Party, but also by the PDL and the Civic Choice. The other parties are adamant about their decision to stay in opposition. The Movimento 5 Stelle, through the mouth of its group leaders Crimi and Lombardi, reaffirmed its position: "We are the only opposition in the country but we will evaluate case by case". Also firm is the no of Nichi Vendola and Sel "to any executive that has a Berlusconi bloc within it". Even the League will remain outside the government, but will obtain, in the case of a government led by Amato, the presidency of Copasir. The Brothers of Italy are also outside the executive.

In the meantime, pending the conferral of office, the first names for the ministers are starting to circulate: for the Treasury we are talking about Fabrizio Saccomanni, while for Foreign Affairs it would be a two-way race between Monti and D'alema. Towards the reconfirmation of Milanese in European Affairs and Chancellors in the Interior.

The programmatic basis of the work of the new executive will in all probability be the work of the Sages. The most urgent issues are to face the economic and social emergency and launch the political reform.
