At 13:24 pm the Monti government was born, the 63rd in the history of the republic. After the consultations concluded last night in record time, the appointed Premier went up to the Quirinale this morning. After a surprisingly long conversation (over two hours) with the President of the Republic, the Professor dissolved the reserve, communicating the names of the ministers who will be part of his team (the swearing-in is scheduled for this afternoon at 17pm).

"The absence of political personalities in the government - said the Prime Minister after presenting his team - will facilitate rather than hinder the establishment, because it will remove any cause for embarrassment". On the other hand "the political forces, which I hope are emerging from a phase of very, very lively dialectic, have shown a clear preference for supporting this government without being part of it".
“We operated quickly and with seriousness and attention to the quality of the choices – concluded Monti -. we feel confident in what we have done and we have received many encouraging signs from our European partners and from the international world. I trust that this will translate, albeit in a complicated phase, into a reassurance of those market difficulties that concern our country".
