Government-majority: decree on work, taxation and simplifications by June

Work, simplifications e revenue authorities: on these issues the government will pass some bills and a "decree of doing” before the next European summit, scheduled for 27 and 28 June. This was announced by the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Dario Franceschini, at the end of majority summit this morning at Palazzo Chigi. A meeting convened after the outcome of the administrative elections, which greatly strengthened the position of the Democratic Party.

The goal is “to free energy and resources – explained the minister -. The parliamentary groups will present some of their proposals to us in the next few hours". In addition to Franceschini, the majority leaders of the House and Senate, Prime Minister Enrico Letta, Deputy Prime Minister Angelino Alfano and Undersecretary to the Prime Minister Filippo Patroni Griffi took part in today's meeting.

As for the possible postponement of the VAT increase from 21 to 22% which will start automatically from July 31st, “it is too early to give answers, resources are needed, not words”, Franceschini said again, underlining that there are “two deadlines already set. One is decided by Parliament and foresees that the IMU will be reformed by XNUMX August, the other decided earlier is the increase in VAT”.

Instead, Renato Brunetta chose to go too far: “The orientation of the majority is to block the increase in VAT – said the PDL group leader in the Chamber -. A strong signal is needed, which is why we believe that the postponement of the VAT increase is useless, because it would cause an increase in citizens' savings”. Avoiding the VAT increase requires finding two billion in 2013 and four billion a year from 2014.

In the incoming decree there will also be measures of decontribution and tax exemption for new hires, "because we have to recover 500 jobs lost due to the crisis over two years", continued Brunetta.

Finally, the chapter Constitution. The government and the majority have decided to speed up the reform process: the goal is to get the go-ahead in the first reading of the constitutional bill by July.
