Government, Napolitano appoints Renzi: Italicum, work, PA reform and taxation priorities

Constitutional reforms and electoral law, work, public administration and taxation. These are the first commitments on which Matteo Renzi's Executive will concentrate, which this morning received the task of forming the new Government from the Head of State, Giorgio Napolitano.

“I will put all the effort and energy I am capable of into this difficult task – said the democratic secretary after the conversation with the President of the Republic -. In the next few hours I will meet the Presidents of the Chamber and the Senate, then I will go to Florence for the necessary institutional fulfilments in my city. I will be back in Rome tonight and the consultations will begin tomorrow”.

The appointed Premier then reiterated that the new government aims to conclude the legislature, thus reaching 2018. “The commitment we have made is very complex and serious – continued Renzi -. Let's imagine the lengthening of the political perspective of this legislature, for this reason it is necessary that all the political forces are aware of the next steps: the legislative horizon that we give ourselves needs a few days to get to dissolve the reserve ".

As for the agenda of the new Executive, the number one of the Democratic Party has drawn up a precise calendar: “By February we must conclude an urgent work on the constitutional reforms and the electoral law to be brought to the attention of Parliament. In March we will focus on work, in April on public administration reform and in May on taxation. We intend to work very seriously on the contents, not on anything else”.
