Letta government, weekend at the abbey

Prime Minister Enrico Letta convenes the ministers, but not at Palazzo Chigi, nor in other institutional buildings. The theater of the meeting will be a pleasant place for reflection and prayer. The appointment was announced by the Prime Minister via Twitter: “Sunday and Monday 24-hour retreat in a Tuscan abbey, only the ministers. To plan, get to know each other, make locker room. Everyone pays for himself."

In detail, the unusual meeting will start in the late afternoon on Sunday and will end at lunchtime on Monday. The ministers will "make a dressing room" in the abbey of Spineto della Luce in Sarteano, in the province of Siena.

It is – as reported by the government website – an 800th century Vallombrosan abbey, surrounded by a property of over 98 hectares, “where the land of Siena extends to the last edge of Tuscany. Halfway between Florence and Rome. It has XNUMX guest rooms distributed between the Abbey and the eleven ancient farms of the Estate”.

The only precedent dates back to 1997, when the then Prime Minister Romano Prodi chose the convent of Gargonza to cement the union between the various souls of the Executive. At the time the initiative was not very successful, given that the government survived only until the following year.

In the new team, the first to comment was Maria Chiara Carrozza: “Let's see, the abbey is doing very well – said the new education minister -. In this way we also rest a little and strengthen the spirit”.
