Lega-M5S government, moving towards a third prime minister

The constitutionally improbable hypothesis of a "relay" at Palazzo Chigi lasted only a few hours. Di Maio and Salvini ready to enter as ministers. Still 2-3 days of negotiation and swearing in by the end of next week. Technicians working on the program

Lega-M5S government, moving towards a third prime minister

The negotiations for the new Lega-M5S government continue. After the Salvini-Di Maio summit in the morning, the technical meetings in the afternoon continue along the path of the agreement for which it will take "another 2-3 days". We are moving towards a third prime minister and the hypothesis, constitutionally hardly credible, of a relay race between the two leaders lasted the space of one morning.

"I would say that we are really well advanced, we have started talking about issues but there is convergence on the fact that the right moment has created the conditions" for an M5s-Lega government. So announces Vincenzo Spadafora, head of institutional relations of Luigi di Maio, M5s leader, guest at Porta a porta. The M5s-Lega government will be "a streamlined government, in addition to the 13 ministers expected, there will be a few others without a portfolio". And in any case they will be "less than 20", explains Spadafora. On the premiership of an M5s-Lega government, it is very likely "a third name" that "represents what is written in the government contract".. "By the end of next week it will be possible to swear". On the timing of an M5s-Lega government, Spadafora added: "The path is very positive and I believe there will still be a short path that will allow us to define everything by the end of next week".

On the contents, aside the indiscretions circulated, it is Matteo Salvini himself who anticipates that "immigration, security and landings a founding part of the government program", while Luigi Di Maio is quick to point out that at the table of the program, we start from "flat tax and basic income”.

"Significant progress has been made on the composition of the executive and the premier with a view to constructive collaboration between the parties with the aim of defining everything in a short time to quickly give a response and a political government to the country", they had communicated at the end of the morning with a note by the two protagonists of the negotiation, at the end of thetwo hour meeting which took place in the Sala Siani of the Group Building of the Chamber of Deputies.

If the predictions are confirmed, the swearing-in of the new executive is expected by the end of next week. Both Di Maio and Salvini would be willing to enter as ministers, probably the Northern League leader as owner of the Interior and the starry penta as Foreign Minister. Furthermore, it is likely that the Ministry of Development, also responsible for Communications, will end up with the League to guarantee relations with Silvio Berlusconi. Forza Italia has agreed to take a side step: it will not support the nascent executive, but neither will it oppose the League's choice to go with 5 Stars.
