POSITIVE BUSINESS PLACE, THE BANKS SHINE. THUD OF MICROSOFT -10% AT WALL STREET
Piazza Affari, in a sprint, won the record among the European Stock Exchanges in a day that was, in truth, sluggish. The FtseMib index, however, closed in positive territory with a rise of 0,44% to 16124 thanks to the brilliant contribution of the banking sector.
The stock exchanges of London, Paris and Frankfurt all fell between 0 and 0,07%, Madrid fell by 0,18%. In the US, the decline in profits in the technology sector is worrying, casting a shadow on the strength of the economy. Halfway through the session Microsoft falls by 10%,Advanced Micro Devices plummets 16%, Google loses 3%. It resists in Piazza Affari StM - 0,26%.
On the contrary, the champion of the old economy shines, General Electric that salt by 5%. The Dow Jones and S&P indices, which yesterday marked new all-time highs, lost respectively 0,1% and 0,2%, while the Nasdaq fell by 0,7%.
Piazza Affari is driven by the positive report on the banking sector edited by Goldman Sachs: promoted Unicredit +2,23%, confirmed in the US bank's "conviction buy list", e Pop.Milano +2,07%, raised to "buy" from "neutral". Understanding earns 2,05%, Mediobanca+1,3%. In negative ground Ubi -0.78% and MontePaschi -1,45%.
Treasury-controlled securities sold after an interview with Economy Minister Fabrizio Saccomanni on Bloomberg TV in which he aired the possibility of using part of the shares as collateral for financing transactions with the aim of reducing public debt.
They go down Enel -0,75% and Finmeccanica -1,64%. Eni closes at +0,18%. The Cairo effect pushes RCS Media Group +7%. Insurance backtracking: General – 0,14%, Fondiaria-Leaves -1,64%. It goes up the other way around Telecom Italy +2,16%. Among the industrialists, it shines Prysmian+3,08%. Fiat instead drops by 0,9%.
