Golf, Molinari returns to the top 50

With third place at the Memorial last week, the Italian returned to the top 50 players in the World Ranking, after months of exile, going from 59th to 44th and in Fedex he rose from 134th to 93rd place.

Francesco Molinari continues to climb positions in the world golf rankings thanks to a series of amazing performances. With third place at Memorial last week, he re-entered the top 50 players in the World Ranking after months of exile, dropping from 59th to 44th and in Fedex he climbed from 134th to 93rd. These are useful goals to look to the future with optimism, to aspire to the Playoffs, the very rich final tournaments of the American tour and to keep the USA card.

These are objectives within the reach of the Italian, who has a beautiful and precise game like few others, a talent that will also be useful to him next week, at the US Open, the second major of the year. This weekend, however, the athlete remains with his family, like many of his colleagues, waiting for the great commitment that awaits them in Chambers Bay.

However, there are two tournaments scheduled again this week on the two main tours.

In the USA, the Fedex St. Jude Classic takes place on the TPC Southwind course in Memphis, Tennessee. The big names are fewer than usual, but a name like Phil Mickelson is enough to ennoble the appointment. With him Dustin Johnson, Billy Horschel, Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell, Padraig Harrington. Ben Crane, 39, from Portland (Oregon) defends the title with five successes on the circuit. The jackpot is six million dollars, just over a million first coin.

The European Tour moves to Austria for the Lyoness Open, on the Diamond Country Club track in Atzenbrugg. It is an important commitment for Matteo Manassero, Marco Crespi, Andrea Pavan, Alessandro Tadini and Renato Paratore who need some good results.

The field includes Gregory Bourdy, Romain Wattel, Julien Quesne, Chris Wood. The Swedish Mikael Lundberg, 42 years old from Helsingborg, defends the title. The prize pool is 1,5 million euros, 250 thousand euros for the winner.
