Golf: from Crans Montana to Ontario

Even golf is looking for a bit of coolness in this hot summer: the European tour moves to Crans-Montana in Switzerland, for the Omega European Masters, while the Pga goes to Canada, at GlenAbbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario. They are two good-level appointments, considering the fact that they take place a few days after the most important tournament of the year. the Open Championship, concluded on Monday with the victory of Zach Johnson.

From today to Sunday, five Italians will take the field on the course of the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club: Matteo Manassero, Edoardo Molinari, Marco Crespi, Renato Paratore and Alessandro Tadini. Hopefully the mountain air will be good for the Azzurri, who have been rather disappointing this season. Manassero hasn't passed a cut in six races and Edoardo Molinari also stopped on Friday both at the Scottish Open (a tournament he won a few years ago) and at St Andrews.

The filed is one of those that count, with Sergio Garcia in the lead. The number ten in the world returns to Switzerland on the strength of his sixth place on the Old Course, but saddened by his failure, once again, to win a major. Together with him Danny Willett, another protagonist of the Open Championship (sixth too), Victor Dubuisson, Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat. He defends the title, the only one obtained on the circuit, the American David Lipsky, 27 years old from California, who plays above all on the Asian Tour, where he has won twice and where, in 2014, he took first place in the order of merit.

Six amateurs competed, among them the Swede Marcus Kinhult, silver at the Youth Olympic Games won by Paratore. The prize pool is 2,7 million euros, 450 thousand for the winner.

The Canadian tournament is also full of great players: from Jason Day, fourth with Jordan Spieth in Scotland to Bubba Watson, number three in the world, passing through Jim Furyk, Luke Donald, Matt Kuchar, just to name a few.
Defends the title Tim Clark, while the home fans will place their hopes in Graham DeLaet. The jackpot is 5,8 million dollars, over one million first coin. Both appointments are broadcast live on Sky Sport, morning, afternoon and evening.
