The Alajmos relaunch: the Hostaria adventure in Cortina d'Ampezzo begins

Raffaele and Massimiliano Alajmo re-propose the original Certosa experience started in full Lockdown in the Dolomite resort. The agreement with Renzo Rosso, owner of the historic Albergo Ancora. A take-away service is also active for those who want to eat starred dishes in their own home

It is Italy that does not give in and reacts: the Alajmos, Raffaele and Massimiliano, names of excellence in Italian and international catering, Michelin star collectors with "Le Calandre" in Padua, Cafè Quadri and Fondaco dei Tedeschi in Venice, Stern café in Paris, with premises on Corso Como in Milan and Marrakech. they are not intimidated by the dramatic times and the restrictive measures adopted by the government to contain the effects of the terrible pandemic that is bringing the sector to its knees. From 5 December they open a new restaurant in Cortina d'Ampezzo. It's called Hostaria in Cortina and it's a temporary restaurant. The formula is that of the summer pop-up inaugurated on the Certosa island in full lockdown based on the concept of "cooking, wines, cocktails, music and smiles"

“We have many requests for supplies for Christmas Day and in homes. We don't stop - said Raffaele Alajmo speaking live on the Radio Cafè program "Morning Show - we have 200 employees and our job is to work, not to take layoffs or refreshments, which in any case are small: and so we decided to open ”. The project in Certosa, he explains, was born in just 50 days during the spring lock down “and gave the opportunity to work to 25 of our employees who otherwise would have remained on layoffs. With the seasonal closure of Hostaria in Certosa at the end of October, the team would remain still until spring.”

Hence the idea of opening the Hostaria in the pearl of the Dolomites. thanks to an agreement with Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel, a globally important clothing company, president of OTB, the holding company that also controls the fashion brands Maison Margiela, Marni, Viktor & Rolf, owner of the Pelican hotel in Miami Beach and Chiltern Firehouse in London, which recently acquired the Hotel Ancora, starting its renovation also in view of the 2026 Olympics.

The hotel, with its typical Ampezzo structure, is the oldest in the prestigious Dolomite resort and dates back to 1826.

“Renzo Rosso had told me about this new acquisition,” continues Raffaele, “and it came back to me at the end of September when I saw that the winter prospects for Venice would be tragic. Renzo enthusiastically understood the spirit of the initiative and helped us make it happen by immediately contacting the architect in charge of the hotel's restoration project and the legal department to formalize a rental contract. All this because we need to raise our heads and look ahead, to be reactive and proactive.”

Hostaria in Cortina has a large space on the ground floor of the hotel, where Rosso's designers have studied a spaced location of the tables that respects the strict rules imposed by the dpcm. In the project there is also a Bar Terrace and Veranda for a cafeteria, aperitif or snack service.

As an alternative to the restaurant that offers the guaranteed classics of Alajmo cuisine, from fried scampi rolls to Piedmontese cowhide tartare on bark with white truffle, to risotto with hare, amarone and white truffle or roasted suckling pig, mustard mousse and coffee powder there is also a ready-to-go meal service and also the online shop for Alajmo products.
