Giro: bookmakers' trust in Froome and Aru collapses

After the Gran Sasso debacle, bookmakers no longer believe in a final victory at the Giro d'Italia for Frrome and Aru – The odds for Dumoulin and the pink jersey Simon Yates are on the rise

Giro: bookmakers' trust in Froome and Aru collapses

La heavy defaillance by Chris Froome and Fabio Aru on the slopes of the Gran Sasso he had an immediate repercussion on the betting front with a vertical collapse of confidence in a possible final victory of the Giro by the British and the Italian champion. Given super favorite at 2,5 together with Tom Dumoulin on the eve of the start of the pink race, after nine stages the four-time winner of the Tour has risen to 11 in the updated quotation which sees Dumoulin and the current pink jersey, Simon, at the top of the favourites. Yates, winner on top of Campo Imperatore, both give 2,5. Third at 7,5 in the temperature of confidence is the French Thibaut Pinot who precedes Esteban Chaves at 9. In the bets for the final victory, Froome is still preferred over riders who are in the top ten and who surpass him in the standings such as Pozzovivo, listed 16, despite being fifth less than a minute behind Yates.

Even worse for Aru who has never received great trust from bookmakers in this Giro and who after the tarnished performances of recent days has slipped to 33. He is on the threshold of 28 on 3 July for the Sardinian, who in 2015 he finished second in the Giro and won the Vuelta, the pink race, which this Tuesday - after the day of rest - faces the longest stage of 239 km towards from Penne to Gualdo Tadino, is riskily complicating.
