Young people and women, the commitment of Intesa Sanpaolo

Diversity and gender equality, Intesa Sanpaolo is always at the forefront. After participating in the IV edition of the Women Value Company award, the bank led by Carlo Messina also took part in the Dive In Festival 2020, an event dedicated precisely to inclusion in the insurance world. Intesa was present through the top management of its insurance companies, namely Roberta Accettura, Personnel, Change Management and Sustainability Manager of Intesa Sanpaolo Vita, Maria Luisa Gota, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fideuram Vita and Federica Vicenzotto, Chief Compliance Officer of Intesa Sanpaolo Vita . The theme of the intervention of the three managers (not surprisingly all women) was “The value of diversity for growth. How the Intesa Sanpaolo Insurance Division promotes the inclusion of young people and gender equality”.

“The Insurance Division, like the entire Intesa Sanpaolo Group – commented Roberta Accettura -, has always been is committed to valuing diversity and promoting inclusion. Speaking of gender diversity in particular, as a group, we have implemented concrete initiatives, for example the introduction for the third year of a KPI specifically aimed at enhancing female talent assigned to more than 1.100 group managers, with the aim of encouraging implementation of initiatives aimed at reducing the gender gap. In the Insurance Division, we have achieved very important results: over 40% of female managers at all levels of the organizational structure and about 36% of female executives, twice as much as the reference market. We are also inclusive on the generational front and 1 out of 3 colleagues belongs to the millennial cluster".

Inclusion, young people and gender equality not only among employees, but also among customers themselves, as Maria Luisa Gota explains: "Young people under 40, who represent more than a fifth of our customers in the life sector, are more oriented towards foresight and protection. In particular, the construction of pension schemes represents the answer to the need to secure their own future that young people feel and that our Division is ready to support with an inclusive offer that is always attentive to the values that count for their generation. This is the spirit that led us to intervene on Intesa San Paolo Vita's "My Tomorrow" pension fund, which doubled its sub-funds to offer that important sustainability content for young people and which led Fideuram Vita to dedicate the new sub-fund “Millenials” of the Fideuram Pension Fund for younger customers.”

“In this extremely regulated context – added Federica Vicenzotto -, the role of the Chief Compliance Officer becomes key if framed in a path of diversity and inclusion with the business. Diversity, because there is a different point of view but the same purpose, i.e. respect for the customer; inclusion, which means opening up a dimension of mutual active listening. The role of compliance is therefore not only to say yes and no but also to understand, together with the business, the how.”
