On the occasion of Earth Day, dedicated to major issues concerning the future of the planet, the Acea Group recalls its commitment to the environment with a series of initiatives and events. In line with the targets set by the UN Agenda 2030, the Roman multi-utility "has given a great boost to the production of energy from green sources, which in 2021 reached around 0,7 TWh, equivalent to 220 tons of CO2 avoided" , reads a statement from the group. Instead, green energy sold on the free market is equal to 2,3 TWh (+92% compared to 2020), 38% of the total energy sold on the free market.
For the occasion, Acea has implemented various initiatives in the regions in which the Group companies operate to help spread a new culture of the environment and sustainability. He will present a study on clean energy on the RDS network. As regards the educational activities dedicated to issues of defense of the planet, Acea Ambiente will hold a seminar, as part of the Acea School Volleyball Trophy, on "Biomonitoring of air quality through the use of bees" and on an innovative project for the treatment of plastics. Areti, the Group company that manages the electricity distribution service in Rome, will participate with a campaign on social channels.
In Tuscany, the Acque and Acquedotto del Fiora companies will give their support to environmental issues again with a social media campaign. Geal will initiate a pilot project for a new sustainable and mobile irrigation system to handle planting of new trees in municipal concession areas, managed by local non-profit associations. In Umbria, the Umbria Energy company, on April 22nd, recognizes customers who choose the digital invoice, a consumption bonuses. Finally, in Campania, Gesesa will conclude, in a school in Benevento, the project "Let's give oxygen to the future 2022", together with a show by the environmental educational theater company "Red Roger" on the Sustainability Goals of the UN Agenda 2030.
