Shinzo Abe remains in charge of Japan. The prime minister was re-elected for a third term by the country's deputies, ten days after his Liberal Democrat Party's (PLD) victory in the early general elections. Abe won 328 votes out of 470 in the lower house, and 135 votes out of 240 in the upper house.
The first act of the new government will be the announcement of new measures to curb the recession and thus revive the Japanese economy.
