The country's central bank releases positive data on household and business confidence and on the bond market. A recovery, according to forecasts, driven by the reconstruction process.

Japan, economy recovering for the first time after the earthquake

The Bank of Japan (BoJ) has raised its assessment of the Japanese economy for the first time since the earthquake of 11 March. The confidence of households and businesses is rising again, but the central bank's report is in any case cautious: "the economy - we read - continues to face downward pressure, above all on the production side due to the effects of March events. But it shows signs of recovery”.

Even the bond market has resumed traveling at a good pace. Looking ahead, the BoJ expects a moderate recovery path, driven by the increase in production in the reconstruction process.

Meanwhile, shares of Tepco rose 32,12% today (to 329 yen, 80 more than at close on Tuesday, when the company's shares jumped 25%). An increase caused by the announced public support which will be allocated to amortize the colossal costs of compensation for damages, which the energy company must bear.
