Giallo Terna, the share collapses on the Stock Exchange but then Letta rectifies: "Only 4,9% will be sold"

The error, which also caused Terna's stock to fall on Piazza Affari by more than -2% (recovered to -1,5% at lunchtime), consisted in a simple comma: the percentage to which Letta was referring was by 4,9% – Palazzo Chigi also confirmed its willingness to keep the company, considered a strategic asset, under public control.

Terna yellow solved, born later the interview by Prime Minister Enrico Letta, who declared to the Washington Post: “I think that now the markets are ready to buy and we are ready to sell public goods. We will sell Fincantieri and a part of Terna, which is the national electricity grid. Of course, not 100% but 49%”. It was precisely on this last percentage that the question arose: how does the State manage to sell 49% if it only owns, and indirectly through the CDP, 30%?

The error, which had also caused Terna's stock to fall over -2% in Piazza Affari (recovered to -1,5% at lunchtime), consisted in a simple comma: the percentage to which Letta was referring, probably reported incorrectly by the US newspaper, it was actually 4,9%, as specified by one subsequent note from Palazzo Chigi, which clarified by explaining that only a 4,9% stake in the network company will be sold as the first and last sale, and confirming the will to keep the company, considered a strategic asset, under public control.
