Ghizzoni (Unicredit): "We are not interested in Bpm"

Unicredit interested in acquiring Bpm? It is not true. This was assured by Federico Ghizzoni, CEO of the bank in Piazza Cordusio, on the sidelines of the presentation of the season of the Filarmonica della Scala.

Of a possible acquisition of Banca Popolare di Milano, Ghizzoni explained that "we have never discussed it, because we are not interested". Unicredit's goal remains that of increasing its market share in Lombardy "and we are already trying to do it - specified the managing director -, but not through acquisitions".

Meanwhile, the Milan prosecutor's office has launched an investigation against unknown persons for insider trading after Enzo Chiesa, general manager of Bpm, filed a complaint for leaks relating to the dissemination of the minutes of the Bank of Italy's inspection of the institute.
