Capital Jerusalem unleashes the Intifada: over 100 wounded

Keep going up the toll of wounded Palestinian demonstrators in today's clashes with Israeli military units in the West Bank, in East Jerusalem and along the demarcation line with Gaza. From Palestinian medical sources the Israeli newspaper Maariv learned that so far there is news of 114 Palestinians who required medical attention injured by gunfire, or intoxicated by tear gas, or contused by rubber-coated bullets.

The clashes were provoked by the US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize the holy city as the capital of Israel, which sparked the acclaim of Israel but the disapproval of the international community, from Turkey to Iran but also to the European Union and the UN.

“We appeal for one new intifada against the occupation and against the Zionist enemy, and let us act accordingly”: stated the political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in a speech delivered from his home in Gaza and broadcast by the Hamas broadcaster 'al-Aqsa TV', while in the streets of the city there are numerous demonstrations of protest against the United States. “The recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is a declaration of war against us”, he added.
