Another nasty surprise for Germany. In September the German industrial production recorded a contraction much higher than expected, decreasing on a monthly basis by 2,7%. Estimates spoke of a much more modest -0,5%. However, the August figure was revised upwards from -1% to -0,4%.
The numbers were released by the Berlin Ministry of the Economy, which spoke of a delicate phase for the industrial sector, linked above all to the negative trend in orders. As for the individual sectors, manufacturing fell by 3%, while the construction sector fell by 0,8% and the energy sector by 0,7%.
