In December, the figure grew by 1,7%, while analysts had forecast an average recovery of 1% - Strong imbalance between orders from the euro area (-6,8%) and those from outside the Eurozone (+12,3%).

THEGerman industry recover beyond expectations. In December orders grew by 1,7% in Germany, according to data released by the Berlin Ministry of Economy. Analysts were expecting a much more modest increase, around 1% on average.

The progress exclusively reflects a recovery in foreign orders, which grew by 4,3%, compared with the minus 1,4% of those on the domestic market. In detail, orders from the euro area fell by 6,8%, while those outside the monetary union grew by 12,3%.
