New historic record for Germany's public debt. The scourge of excessive debt is starting to cost dearly even to the leading European economy which, despite the positive national economic situation, saw the figure increase in an unusual way during the first quarter of 2012.

The new share reached exceeds the 2.000 billion euro wall for the first time, reaching a peak of 2.042 billion. This was announced by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis.
