German retail sales fell in June, denting hopes that German consumers are rescuing Europe from the economic meltdown it has been in since 2008.
The reduction in sales, even if only by 0,1% on a monthly basis, will in any case slow down further in the second quarter, at least according to the Commerzbank, but a sudden growth in sales cannot be expected, which could even sink during the summer.
On an annual basis, however, retail sales increased by 2,9%.
In fact, consumers know that things are getting worse but thanks to a low level of unemployment, confidence remains high.
German inflation, on the other hand, has fallen by 1,8% in the last 18 months. Only this figure could help the German economy recover.
