Sudden slowdown in German manufacturing in July. In Germany in July industrial orders decreased by 1,4% compared to June and by 0,5% compared to July 2014. This was communicated by the statistical institute which revised downwards to +1,8% from +2% June orders on a monthly basis. The data for July are worse than expectations which estimated orders at -0,6% on a monthly basis. Also in July, industrial orders from abroad decreased by 5,2% while those from within increased by 4,1%.
The German figure also confirms the slowdown in emerging economies, led by China. According to data from the statistical institute, in fact, orders from abroad recorded an increase of 2,2% in the euro area, not sufficient, however, to compensate for the -9,5% in the rest of the world.
"Despite the current decline, the trend remains clearly upwards for industrial orders," specified a statement from the German Economy Ministry, underlining the good development of capital goods and demand in the euro zone.
