Confidence among German companies is falling. The related Zew index, in fact, recorded a very sharp drop in March: from 55,7 in February to the current 46,6, a much lower figure than analysts' expectations, who had forecast a much more contained drop at 53 points.
The Zew index, which measures the current situation, on the other hand, showed an increase to 51,3 from 50 in February. Also in this case, the expectations of analysts were disappointed, as they had foreseen growth up to 52,8.
