A real boom for the confidence indicator, which dates back to -53 in December – Exceeded the estimates, which gave it to -50 points – The next six months could bring stabilization for the German economy.

Germany: Zew index at highest since July (-21,6)

The Zew index, which measures confidence in the German economy, recorded positive data in January. The indicator it stood at -21,6 points, from -53,8 in December 2011, and has thus reached its highest level since last July.

The figure, the expression of a survey involving 293 analysts and investors, has exceeded expectations, which gave it equal to -50 points.

Despite fears of a recession in Germany, the performance of the index can bode well in view of a stabilization of the German economy over the next six months.
