Germany, 14% of the population lives below the poverty line

Although the country's economy is the healthiest in the entire eurozone, in Germany there is no sign of decreasing the percentage of citizens living below the poverty line. According to a study by Der Paritatische Verband, they still represent the 14% of the population, record percentage and almost stable since 2005.

The poverty line in Germany is set on an income equal to 826 euros per month for people living alone, and 1.735 euros for a family of four (with two children aged at least 14). In 2005 14,7% of Germans lived below this threshold, in 2010 still 14,5%, despite the fact that in that period the country's GDP grew by 3%.
