Germany, the Greens ask for banking license for ESM

The worries on the internal front for Angela Merkel never end, caught between the hawks and doves that populate the Bundestag. Today a new proposal has arrived to hinder the chancellor's path: the leader of the Greens, Jürgen Trittinexplicitly asked theattribution of the banking license to the Esm State-saving fund. The idea is not new, but it has been officially formalized for the first time.

Yesterday the chancellor he had already silenced the detractors of the strategy pursued by Germany in Europe, emphasizing that he will not allow any new solidarity initiative if controls are not increased in parallel. Words that cast a shadow over the approval in Brussels of the anti-spread shield in the form desired by Italy and Spain, which did not provide for any control by the troika on the countries concerned.

Meanwhile, the German Constitutional Court will decide on the constitutionality of the Fund to save states and the Fiscal Compact only on 12 September. This was announced this morning by the Karlsruhe Court, Spiegel reports online. The announcement will not please the German cabinet, the Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble, and other representatives of the government in Berlin who had hoped for a quick decision by the Constitutional Court.
