Germany, confidence down for the fourth consecutive month

Confidence in Europe's leading economy drops for the fourth consecutive month. Signs of slowdown after yesterday's lower growth estimates.

Germany, confidence down for the fourth consecutive month

The German Business Confidence Index survey fell for the fourth consecutive month in October. The specific Ifo index stopped at 106,4 from 107,4 in September. The indicator is calculated by interviewing 7.000 business owners in Germany about the present situation and expectations for the future.

The basic datum on which the index is calculated is that of 2.000. The decline is a further sign of the slowdown in the German economy after yesterday, the Berlin Ministry of the Economy revised downwards its growth forecasts for the current year and for 2012.
