falls to the peakZew index, the survey that measures the confidence climate of German companies. In August the figure collapsed to 8,6 points, against the 27,1 recorded in July.

The figure slipped for the eighth consecutive month, returning to the lowest levels since December 2012 and settling well below the forecasts of analysts, who had estimated a much more contained drop, at 17,5 points. 

Immediately after the communication of the data, the Dax30, the main listing of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, left .32% in the field.
