Germany, bankruptcies down 6%

While in half of Europe companies close every day at a pace never seen in history, in Germany in 2012 bankruptcies decreased by 6% compared to a year earlier, confirming a trend that has been going on for three years (2009 was the last year in which they increased).

In the calendar year that has just ended, they were therefore "just" 28.300 businesses that have closed their doors, according to provisional data from the federal statistics office, Destatis.

The total debts linked to these financial statements filed with the court reached 51,7 billion euros, a figure which is however much higher than that of the previous twelve months (31,5 billion), which therefore goes to highlight a greater number of bankruptcies of large companies, such as those of Schlecker and Sollevo.
