Germany, Bundesbank: German GDP prospects improve

Germany's economic prospects improve at the beginning of the year. According to Bundesbank, the slowdown seen in recent months by the German GDP is not destined to continue for much longer.

"The stable job market and the rising employment prospects indicate that the weakness of the business cycle will not last too long", writes the German Central Bank in its monthly bulletin, underlining that signs of improvement will already be evident in the first quarter of 2013.

In the last quarter of last year, Germany's GDP contracted by 0,5%, the German statistics office announced last week.

Berlin also recently cut its growth estimates for the whole of 2013, announcing that the rate should come in at 0,4%, much lower than the 1% previously expected.
