Germany: industry leap +3,3%

Production far exceeded analysts' expectations, which had predicted growth of around 0,5% - Industrial production increased by 2,2% on an annual basis.

For production, this is the first increase recorded in three months and a figure well above the expectations of analysts, who had forecast a limited rebound of +0,5%.

In December, according to the Federal Statistical Office destiny, production had recorded a cyclical downturn of 0,3%. On an annual basis, however, the increase in January was 2,2%.

The growth compared to December was mainly driven by the +7% recorded by construction in January, while the production of capital goods increased by 5,3% and consumer goods by 3,7%.
