Despite the crisis that is flaring up in Europe, the labor market in Germany continues to hold, even if some crunch is beginning to be felt. According to data released by the German Federal Employment Agency, the Crude unemployment rate fell to 7% in April from 7,2% in March, a decrease of 0,2% equal to around 65 fewer unemployed.
Conversely, if you look at i seasonally adjusted data, the number of unemployed appears to have increased by 19, although the rate remains unchanged at 6,8% in March. Analysts were expecting the rate to fall to 6,7%. This increase in the number of unemployed is the first since November 2011, and the second recorded in the last 26 months.
Even if the figure, warns the German Employment Agency, is affected by the Easter holidays, it could be the first crack in the hitherto stagnant hold of the German economy in the face of the recession that is affecting the Eurozone.
