Eyes on Berlin, where this morning the German chancellor Angela Merkel receives the Italian premier Paolo Gentiloni, returned to work only last Saturday after an angioplasty operation. Just in the last few days the meeting has taken on a certain political heaviness. two warm fronts:
1) the Italian public accounts, after our country received yesterday the warning letter from the European Commission;
2) the FCA file, accused of irregularities in emissions by the United States authorities and targeted by heavy German attacks, probably dictated by internal political reasons in the pre-election climate.
Naturally, during the conversation, the Italian prime minister and the German chancellor cannot ignore the speech delivered yesterday by the British premier, Theresa May, in view of Brexit, as well as the imminent inauguration of Donald Trump in the White House.
The Merkel-Gentiloni bilateral summit will be accompanied by a forum with the participation of the business elite of the two countries.
