Genoa, maxi decree arriving: it will rebuild Fincantieri

To unblock the situation in Genoa, which has been at a standstill for practically a month despite pressure from the Municipality and the Liguria Region, the government is about to make a change: a maxi decree should arrive on the CDM table on Friday, according to what was announced the Minister of Infrastructure Danilo Toninelli, in a hearing in the Chamber. "For Friday's Council of Ministers, a very important decree is being worked on, targeting displaced persons, businesses not only in the red zone, with the aim of restarting the city," said the exponent of the 5 Star Movement.

“It is a decree, which I call a decree, in which Mit, Mise, Mef, and Lavoro participate. We will be able to manage the reconstruction of the bridge”, Toninelli also said, explaining that the exceptional nature of the intervention will allow assign the contract directly “to a public company, Fincantieri for example, to rebuild the bridge by 2019”, thus welcoming the local requests, which are clamoring for a quick reconstruction of the bridge, which will serve to restore its viability to the Ligurian capital.

The decree will also contain “help for families in terms of mortgages and help for businesses with tax breaks” and will not only deal with Genoa, but also with general interventions on the maintenance of the infrastructures and a part relating to the use of sensors. On the motorway concessions Toninelli clarified that he intends to "give a precise turn signal: from now on all the concessionaires will be bound to reinvest a large part of the profits in the modernization of the infrastructures that they have received under concession, will have to comply more strictly with their maintenance obligations and, more generally, will have to understand that the infrastructure is not a financial income, but a public good for the country”.
