Generali, green light for the Sustainability Charter

The Board of Directors of the Leone has approved the programmatic document which defines Generali's positioning on the issue of sustainability and sets out its commitments to stakeholders - And Fitch confirms the rating.

The Board of Directors of Assicurazioni Generali has approved the Group's new Charter of Sustainability Commitments, the programmatic document that defines Generali's positioning on the issue of sustainability and outlines its commitments to stakeholders.

The Chairman of Assicurazioni Generali, Gabriele Galateri of Genola, he stated: “The basis of these commitments is Generali's desire to interpret the reality that surrounds us and understand the transformations that affect our society. A commitment that allows us to adopt principles and follow values that promote sustainable development of our business in the long term, helping to improve the lives of people and the community as a whole. The Charter is confirmation of Generali's will to grow sustainably, in the interest of all its stakeholders and the community in which it operates."

The Charter of Commitments operates in two areas of activity. The first refers to doing business sustainably every day and the second regards the positive impact that Generali wants to create in the community. In both areas, in line with what emerged from the listening and dialogue activity with a wide variety of stakeholders, Generali has identified the main commitments which will articulate its sustainability strategy. Starting from intervening on the megatrends that influence the Group's business and society and, again, from being the first choice for customers and enhancing their distributors.

The Charter also includes the commitment to stimulate debate in the financial community on the issue of sustainability; create an inspiring work environment for Group people; offer excellent service by collaborating with contractual partners; generate a concrete impact in the communities in which Generali operates; be recognized as a responsible Group. Each commitment will be subject to specific annual monitoring and reporting within all the Group's business units.

Meanwhile, today the rating agency Fitch announced that it had confirmed the IFS rating of Generali and its companies at A- with a stable outlook. Fitch explained that the rating remains two notches higher than the Italian one (BBB/Stabile) "confirming the strong capital solidity and the considerable geographical diversification (approximately 60% of the operating result achieved outside Italy), including the significant activities in France and Germany, where the Group has a solid market position”.
