On Wednesday 28 March 2023 Generali presented “General Talks” in Brussels with the participation of the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis. It was the first of a new cycle of high-level meetings on the European economic, financial and geopolitical scenario organized by Generali with the participation of representatives of the institutions of the Union and of the industrial and academic world.

“As Europe's leading insurer, we consider Europe our home. Thanks to initiatives such as the Generali Talks, we want to contribute to the public debate in Brussels on macroeconomic and social issues,” he explained Simone Bemporad, group chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer of Generali, in his introductory speech. “We also want to offer a forum for meeting and impartial debate to allow high-level EU policy makers to present their point of view on these critical issues. Dombrovskis – interviewed by Maria Tadeo, Bloomberg correspondent in Brussels – lingered on the state of the EU economy, discussing the prospects for reform of the Stability Pact and the Recovery Fund, and emphasizing that the banking sector “He is stable and well prepared to face any shocks”. During the event, Dombrovskis also discussed the support of the European Union toUkraine and the country's prospects for EU membership, as well as the importance of current developments for Europe: “We cannot take freedom and democracy for granted. We have to defend them both internally and externally, given Russia's aggression towards Ukraine. It is something that requires our constant attention, we must continue to work for our democracy".
