The Generali Cup, the regatta dedicated to Generali Group employees scheduled for the 7th edition of the “Barcolana” Autumn Cup, scheduled from 49 September to 29 October, will take place on 8 October in the Gulf of Trieste.

Generali has been the main sponsor of the event for over 35 years and has devised a series of initiatives dedicated to employees, the public and young people in particular to discover, through the metaphor of the wind and knots, the ties with the city of Trieste, its sea, its traditions.

The first is the Generali Cup, which will bring a selection of 50 employees who are passionate about sailing and from 13 different countries to the Barcolana in Trieste, chosen from almost 300 candidates from all over the world. The crews, aboard 10 J70 monotypes, will compete on Saturday in a test between the buoys in the middle of the Gulf and in a Stadium Race, and then on Sunday in the Barcolana. Generali will also propose the second edition of Barcolana Lab, an event dedicated to the 'knowledge of the sea' for children and teenagers who frequent the recreation centers of Trieste, in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste and the Museo della Bora. "Pop up" boats will be made in special cardboard, reproducing a "children's Barcolana", with the help of the little ones.

Champions such as the skier Federica Brignone and the Olympic sailing stars will meet young and old fans on the Generali stand on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October to share their passion for sport.

"As main sponsor of Barcolana we want to help create a valuable experience: we want to make the area known, share the culture of the sea, promote collective participation - explained the President of Generali, Gabriele Galateri - we will be there with our people, who will come to Trieste from all over the world to compete and experience an event of sport and entertainment; we will be there with initiatives dedicated to the youngest, who thanks to the activities in the city's recreation centers and on the Generali stand will learn the knowledge of the sea; we will be there with local realities such as the Museo della Bora, which will involve everyone in the story of a wind that has always shaped the face of the city; Finally, we will be there with protagonists of sport, professionals and non-professionals, to discuss the meaning of practicing sport. Because the Barcolana is the ongoing history of the city”.
