Generali Italia launches FiancoAFianco for serious road accidents

“A serious car accident can change your life. The sudden loss of self-sufficiency causes a complex upheaval in everyday life for the person and his family. And they are events with high social costs”. With these words Marco Sesana, country manager and managing director of Generali Italia launches Side by side, a new protocol for victims of serious road accidents with which the Leone group, in addition to compensation for damages, also offers personalized support from a consultant to those in need and provides for the activation of a network of partners of excellence to support injured parties and their families by acting on three areas: psychological support; treatment and rehabilitation process; assistance and removal of architectural barriers.

On the other hand we are talking about a central theme in our country. According to data, in Italy, every year according to Ania-Istat data, there are over 175 road accidents with serious injuries to people and the overall injuries exceed 249, with an average social cost of 300.000 euros.

How to activate Side by Side? “A consultant contacts the victim of a serious road accident or her family to identify the main needs together – explains Generali Italia-. It is proposed a personalized rehabilitation plan of concrete solutions to meet the needs identified and the FiancoAFianco network was activated to carry out shared interventions. The progress of the process is monitored at each stage and the Company bears all costs directly. At the end of the process, we proceed with the coroner's report and compensation for damages".

Thanks to the partnerships stipulated, through the protocol it is possible to access facilities for physical medicine and rehabilitation, home care and transport cooperatives; construction companies for the removal of architectural barriers, workshops specialized in the adaptation of cars with special controls.

With Side by side – he says Massimo Monacelli, chief property & casualty and claims officer of Generali Italia – we place our expertise and our network of partners at the service of everyone, customers and non-customers, going beyond the logic of compensation alone. Our consultants are trained and motivated people who accompany the victims of serious road accidents along a path made up of rapid intervention, sharing of needs and actions. And all this is possible thanks to the solid FiancoAFianco network made up of professionals and companies with whom we work closely”.

Among the partnerships, the agreement signed with the stands out Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation on the basis of which the Foundation will carry out a multi-dimensional specialist, outpatient and/or home clinical evaluation. Following this evaluation, the personalized Individual Rehabilitation Project will be defined. The proposed treatment path also provides psychological support for the patient and family members to develop awareness and facilitate the "adaptation" phase to the new condition of disability.

Francesco Converti, Director General of the Don Gnocchi Foundation said: “We are honored by this important collaboration with such a prestigious partner as Generali Italia. This project fits fully into the strategies of the Don Gnocchi Foundation: making our services accessible, combining the quality guaranteed by the professionalism and preparation of our operators with the best technology available today in the rehabilitation field. At the heart of all our activities remains the overall care of the patient, from hospitalization to the facility, until returning home. And this dialogue between the healthcare world and insurance companies is significant for us, in particular to ensure effective responses to the needs of complex patients and their families".
