New digital insurance services and the Internet of Things at the center of the agreement strategic and commercial agreement between Generali Country Italia, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Italy and FCA Bank signed today in Milan.

Innovative insurance solutions, digital services, instant insurance and integrated services for customers will be ready by the end of the year according to announcements.

Marco Sesana, country manager and CEO of Generali Italia and Global Business Lines explained during the press conference on 3 October in Milan: "Less than a year ago we created an Italian axis with FCA for the first connected mobility ecosystem and to develop innovative solutions and services for new forms of mobility. Our goal is to ensure the movement of people and not just cars. With this new approach to mobility we aim to surpass the goal of 2,5 million connected customers by 2021".  

The partnership also includes insurance solutions for the Leasys fleet and the distribution of motor policies by FCA Bank at the FCA dealer network and will involve various European markets: as regards Leasys, in Italy there will be over 90.000 FCA vehicles insured by Generali, both for Retail customers and for rental and car sharing, while in Germany, France and Poland , the partnership the insurance solutions will cover for the cars of retail customers.

Fruit of the agreement is also a new construction site, already underway, with the aim of developing specific products and services related to the electric car in 2020: such as dedicated insurance coverage and services to facilitate recharging of the car battery.

"For FCA, the initiative announced today is part of the new global "ecosystem" for connected vehicles, announced last April, which will improve the online functions of its vehicles all over the world," he explains. the COO for the Emea region, Pietro Gorlier. “In addition to offering an ideal technical environment for electric vehicles, the platform will also support FCA's range of mobility services, including mileage rate options, insurance policies based on the actual use of the vehicle, distributed by FCA Bank through the Group's dealer network".

For FCA this is not the first foray into the subject of electric mobility, already with Terna the first project was launched to test the ability of an entire fleet of vehicles to interact with the electricity system through Vehicle-to-Grid technology, and therefore to be not only a consumer but also a producer of energy.
