Generali, Donnet's debut as number one at the meeting

Philippe Donnet, the new CEO of Generali after the departure of Mario Greco, makes his debut as number one of the company at the shareholders' meeting on 28 April in Trieste. Together with him will be the new general manager and CFO, Alberto Minali, and Gabriele Galateri, confirmed as president.

The occasion will be interesting to understand how the new top management of Generali intends to move in a very complex phase for insurance companies which, since the beginning of the year, have had to deal with the Solvency 2 rules but also with the many aspects of Quantitative easing of Mario Draghi's ECB which on the one hand continues its monetary policy of low rates and on the other provides for the purchase of bonds, including insurance bonds.

Donnet will certainly continue to focus on the insurance business of the leading group in Italy in the insurance field and of one of the few truly international Italian groups.

After handing over the helm of Banca Generali's command to the young general manager Mossa, Donnet will probably also clarify if and when he will leave the leadership of Generali Italia to concentrate on the group. But above all he will trace the strategic lines of the company which now has a new, very cohesive and determined team at the top.

Generali closed the 2015 financial statements with a profit of over 2 billion, up 22%, and premiums of 74 billion. The dividend will also increase, which will be 0,72 euro per share (compared to 0,60 last year).
