General Motors, another storm: in two days 642.650 cars withdrawn from the streets

General Motors has carried out three vehicle recalls between yesterday and today, for a total of 624.250 recalled vehicles. The total sum of recalls by the Detroit giant amounts to 71, corresponding to 29,95 million units withdrawn from the streets. Among the latter, the most impressive recall is that of 290.107 Cadillac Srx (models from 2010 to 2015) and SUV Saab 9-4X (models from 2011 and 2012).

Both models had defects in the rear toe adjuster, which risked coming off. The American manufacturer also retired 89.294 Chevrolet Sparks. These new malfunctions, discovered by GM and communicated to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on September 17, have already caused two accidents resulting in injuries.

Last July, CEO Mary Barra was heard by the United States Congress for a parliamentary interpellation regarding other defects, far more serious than the last ones found. The ignition locks on some GM models had a problem that caused the key to snap back, causing the engine to stall and, most importantly, disabling the brake booster, power steering and airbags.
