Helping companies to grow the most productive area in Italy. It is with this aim that Alessandro Swordfish, President of Assolombarda, and local entrepreneurs met Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region, during the General Council of the Association.
At the center of the meeting, the urgency to complete the strategic infrastructures of the territory in view of Olympics di Milan-Cortina 2026 – which represent an opportunity to relaunch the whole country -, to strengthen the tools to reduce the mismatch of skills and to reduce waiting lists in healthcare.
Spada: "Politics can help us strengthen our supremacy"
“At the beginning of his mandate, we shared the priorities of companies with President Fontana with the aim of making Italy's most productive area even more competitive – said Alessandro Spada, President of Assolombarda -. In fact, we feel the responsibility of being the country's economic engine: politics helps us to strengthen our primacy. The companies are there and they hope to be able to strengthen the winning model of collaboration between the public and private sectors, which already distinguishes the Lombardy system".
The priorities
“Above all, it is necessary to foster synergy between training institutions and businesses, above all by promoting investments in ITS to counter the difficulty of companies in finding adequate professional skills, a problem that affects 45,6% of planned hirings. Furthermore, on the infrastructure issue, we underlined the importance of completing the Lombard foothills, where new delays have accumulated: the construction sites for the sections from Lentate sul Seveso to Vimercate will only start this year, with the risk that they will not be completed in time for the Milan-Cortina Olympics”.
Finally, on the front Health, Spada explained how important it is for the public-private relationship to be concretely declined in the programming choices of the Lombardy Healthcare System. "In particular, we hope for more organized and rapid access to care with the consequent reduction of waiting lists, an area in which private providers can play a decisive role".
Fontana's comments
“Support for companies and great collaboration with the productive world”. This was stated by the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, on the sidelines of the general council of Assolombarda today in Milan. “The direct line that binds us to the business sector – added the governor – can only be constant considering that Lombardy is the economic engine of the whole country. A dialogue based on concrete actions as demonstrated by the numerous opportunities that we offer our companies, especially through regional tenders. Concreteness, but also and above all sharing, given that - concluded Fontana - the involvement of the manufacturing world in our policies is constant".
