Born in 1961, Portuguese by birth, Giancarlo Fancel he was appointed chairman of Genagricola, the agri-food company wholly owned by the Generali group. Fancel is already CFO of Generali Italia, director of Banca Generali and other Group companies in Italy. Graduated in Economics and Commerce in Trieste, auditor and chartered accountant, he began his professional career at Reconta Ernst & Young where he gained significant experience in the sector of auditing financial statements (1988-1999).
Since 1999 it has been part of the Generali group as head of internal auditing, holding various positions, up to becoming head of group management control. From January 2007 to July 2014, as CFO of Banca Generali, he subsequently covered the role of co-general manager of the Institute.
Passionate and expert in wines, Fancel already sits on the board of Genagricola since 2015. “Genagricola is experiencing a phase of profound and intense renewal both from an organizational point of view and with respect to market positioning. As demonstrated by the recent acquisition of an estate in Valpolicella, a step towards excellence in the wine sector”, commented Fancel. “The Genagricola transformation process was launched just over a year ago and is already showing the first fruits.
