GE Oil & Gas, agreement with Lucart for two gas turbines

GE Oil & Gas has signed an agreement for the supply of two new NovaLT12 gas turbines for energy cogeneration (CHP) to Lucart, an Italian multinational leader in Europe in the production of MG paper, tissue and airlaid products. The use of the new turbines for the on-site production of energy and heat, the first application for the paper industry, it will bring benefits both in terms of production efficiency and in terms of environmental impact. The turbines will be installed in the factories of Diecimo and Porcari (Lucca), in Tuscany.

“The installation of the NovaLT12 turbines at Lucart is another concrete example of our production and technological capabilities, not only in the oil & gas market but also in the energy one. At the same time, they are the result of our efforts to continue innovating and improving our products, through investments in research and development" he commented Michele Stangarone, President and CEO Europe of GE Oil & Gas. “What makes me particularly proud is that this project is developed within a consolidated partnership with Lucart, with whom we have been collaborating since 1988, a collaboration that has allowed us to develop the best possible solution, perfectly suited to the specific needs of our customer ”.

"We were the first company in the sector to focus on the self-production of electricity and steam with cogeneration turbines to reduce carbon dioxide emissions at our plants and today we continue the process of making our production plants more efficient", he said Massimo Pasquini, Chief Executive Officer of Lucart, who added: “GE Oil & Gas Nuovo Pignone has been our historic technological partner since 1988 and thanks to this new investment that will involve the Diecimo and Porcari plants we will be able to continue our business plan. The use of these new technologies will not only increase the efficiency of our plants, but will also reduce CO2 and nitrogen oxide emissions, helping us to limit our impact on the environment. We are convinced that the partnership with GE Oil & Gas will go forward and become even more strategic”.

In addition to the two turbines, the signed agreement also includes digital solutions from GE Oil & Gas for monitoring and maintaining machines, up to 140.000 operating hours each. Both units will be operational by the summer of 2020.
