Earnings surge for Gazprom and partially recovers the lost ground. In the third quarter of 2012, the world gas leader scored a net profit of approximately 7,6 billion euros, double compared to the same period of the previous year. The result is higher than analysts' expectations.
The volume of revenues also grew, rising by 18%, to 27,8 billion euros. In the first 9 months, however, Gazprom's net profit showed a contraction of 12% on an annual basis, to 20,2 billion euros, while sales increased by 2%, to 83,1 billion euros.
The Russian energy giant reports that between January and September, gas deliveries to Europe increased by 4% in financial terms, thanks to the increase in the average price in rubles, but fell by 3% in terms of volumes, to 111,4 billion cubic meters.
