Gazprom, work on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline begins

Gazprom is on the verge of starting construction of the Turkish Stream, a gas pipeline that will carry methane from Russia to Europe without passing through Ukraine. According to various sources close to the Russian giant, in fact, construction work should begin from next month.

Although the start of the works is getting closer, there are still some issues to be resolved for Gazprom, among which the opposition shown by the European Union stands out, which would like to reduce its energy dependence on Russia and which could even block the project, as happened with the South Stream pipeline.

The Italian Saipem will also collaborate in the construction of the off-shore section of the project.
